On our first day in Hong Kong, we had a tour of the city with a number of stops.
First up was an older market section of Hong Kong, famous for its dried seafood (and other items.) Interesting items included birds nests, gecko on a stick, and the caterpillar fungus Cordyceps which is highly prized in Chinese medicine, and goes for $3000-$18000 USD/kg!
Next up was one of the older Taoist temples in Hong Kong. Inside was under renovation, and also very smoky with burning incense. Most of the burning incense were slow burning coils.
After that, we took the cable car up to Victoria Peak, overlooking Hong Kong, and back across Victoria Harbor to Kowloon (where are hotel was located.)
Then it was off for a sampan ride around the floating Tanka community - families living on their fishing boats.
In the evening, we also got a shot of the Hong Kong Island skyline from our hotel.
