One day, Ellery took us into a large lagoon. Careful to not promise anything, he told us that two playful Pacific White-Sided Dolphins made their home there. They enjoyed chasing things in the water. So each kayak started taking turns, paddling for all we were worth, to see if they would chase us. Generally, they did. Now, this isn't much of a race, since a kayak does about 2 knots, and a dolphin about 18 knots. In fact, we would generally only see them passing under the kayak while we were paddling as hard as we could. But when we would stop, they would both come arching up, as if to say "Again! Again!"
