The first stops on our cruise were Mykonos, and then Santorini.
On the first day, we were scheduled to sail to Delos and do an excursion of the ruins in the morning, but high winds prevented that, so we sailed straight to Mykonos, and had the morning to walk around the town and have lunch before joining the tour of the island for the afternoon. The tour drove us to a few of the different beach areas on the island, and concluded with a guided tour of the city, including the "Little Venice" area.
The next day, we sailed into Santorini and the surrounding caldera at dawn. Our excursion started in the picturesque town of Oia, famous for its frequently photographed cliff houses and its little galleries and shops. We then drove to Pirgos in the center of Santorini, and hiked up to the Basilica which offered views in all directions. The tour ended in the town of Fira, surprisingly enough with time still left for shopping! Like Oia, Fira is on a cliff, and the ships tenders were at the base. Wes took the stairs, dodging donkeys on the way down, the rest of us took the cable car. We set sail that evening, giving us a chance to see both Fira and Oia from the ship.
